A Much-Welcomed Commission
This January I got called to do a commission to do an indoor percussion show featuring marching battery only. The school had few resources and new drummers, but they still wanted to have an indoor program.
The specific challenge for me was creating an appealing show using nothing but marching drums: snares, tenors, 5 basses and pitched cymbals.
It was an exciting and new challenge, perfect for pushing me out of my writing comfort zone.
