I was drumming in the park one day, in the merry, merry month of May...
Pushed 8s and legatos at 200bpm for a while today. Trying to build up speed and endurance so I can play M.Theory at 120 and beyond; there are plenty of left-handed 16ths in that piece. An older runner lady asked what I was doing and when I told her, asked if she could take a picture of me. "Sure". When she went away she said something like "it's good to see that people still like to play music".
Quite a few people have come up to talk to me since I started practicing in public. One guy even asked to drum on my pad. Said he went to Morris Brown College in Atlanta, which is a rival to NC A&T, which the school (I think) the Drumline movie is based on. He played with tons of visuals and still remembered quite a bit of music ... more than I could hope for at his age.
On a Flam Swiss note, I've made only minor progress on music over the past few months. I'm finding it quite hard to keep up momentum. Maybe it's because I don't have a set schedule every day, so I don't set aside time to compose. Or I probably just need to push myself harder.
In an attempt to extend my Cavies cadence, I've written more measures, but none of the phrases seem to fit. Their styles are a departure from the rest of Cavies, so it's best if I split them off into two new pieces. I need more pieces to work on anyway.
