Blue Devils DVDs

Jan 19 2010

They made me wait eight days! I ordered the Santa Clara and Blue Devils DVDs on Sunday the 10th. Santa Clara arrived on Thursday the 14th. Blue Devils arrived on Tuesday the 19th.

First thoughts?

There's "new car smell" and then there's "new Blue Devils DVD smell". Quite the distinct smell of burning plastic, as if they just burned the discs before putting them in my mailbox.

While watching Blue Smoke 2006 ...

Holy shit! Talk about difference in production quality. Blue Devils has some money! Or maybe SCV just didn't invest as much.

SCV Jonz discs are warmup heavy. The Blue Smoke 2006 documentary is more well-rounded: marching, show music, on-field video, lot vids, not to mention the sound stage recording session. I need to watch the Jonz discs again. Maybe it's just that Blue Devils infuses more power and hype into their stuff. Not that it's unmerited ...

... grinning from ear to ear while watching Blue Devils' Blue Smoke 2006 DVDs. Is that supposed to happen?

Oh god. At around 10:15, an accent exercise segment started. Quads on screen, bass runs in the background. Gave me chills.

Welcome.

Drumline Music

... of a special variety.

Writing drumline music makes me happy. Vacuuming comes close, but is still in second place.
